Over 2 tons of heavy ammunition have been found and collected from Maymana provincial capital of Faryab Province.
Lt. Col. Sayed Hameed Sahdat, Head of DIAG program in Northern-west Zone said that the ammunition have been collected based on the information given by locals in Maymana city.
"According to the report of residents in Maymana city we went to the Province and collect a number of heavy ammunition. People living in Faryab Province are compatriots and they have always helped us to found the active and inactive ammunitions. We went to the area according to the information of locals and found over 2 tons of different heavy ammunitions."
According to Sayed Hameed Sahdat, residents in Faryab have been supporting the government to collect and found illegal weapons since many years. They have also detected and seized several ammunition deports by the help of locals in Shreentakb and Fayez Abad cities in the past years.
The program has submitted useful ammunition to the Defense Ministry and destroyed the useless ammunitions. He adds: "We had also detected ammunition depots with the help of locals in Faryab Province in the past. People's support has been increased to the government since 1380 (solar year). The depots were found in Fayez Abad city and the useful ammunitions and weapons found in the depots were submitted to the Defense Ministry and the useless were destroyed by our teams."
Sayed Hameed believes that enemies wouldn’t refuse any attack if this cache would be found by them because human being is unvalued to them. They can carryout any anti government activities with the weapons.
He adds: "All Afghans and people of the world are witnessing that on the day of Prophet Mohammad's Birthday (PBUH) the enemies carried out a cowardly attack in Kabul and killed many innocent people. They could do any anti government activity if they got the weapons. Everyone needs peace, stability and security. Today, the ammunitions were collected due to the support of people with the government."
There are ammunition caches placed by the enemies from the past years of war in the relevant areas of Faryab Province.
Some of the caches have been found by the teams and according to Sayed Hameed efforts are ongoing to the found the reaming deports exists in Faryab Province. He hopes that people have always helped them in this regard.
