Afghan Border Police gather praises

“I went to Mecca alone a few years ago and this year I took my father on the Hajj,” said Haji Mohammad Nasim from Lashkar Gah, continuing, “When we went to Kandahar airport it was clear that there have been improvements. Many of the procedures went faster than my last visit. I thank all police officers and the government of Kandahar for this wonderful job.”

This year approximately 2,000 people attending the Hajj travelled through Kandahar airport. The travelers were highly satisfied with the border police, commenting that they did their jobs very well and travelers felt safe when the police were screening them. The pilgrims also appreciated that the airport was well prepared for all its passengers, the airport facilities were good, the check-in was very smooth and Ariana Afghan Airlines did a wonderful job flying them to Mecca. All in all, the Hajj trip was very well prepared.

“As one of the many women from Kandahar going on the Hajj I can say that we felt very safe and all our needs were well looked after by the guides. I am very pleased that this Hajj was so peaceful and well co-ordinated,” said Bibi Haji Mariam, a recent Hajj returnee from Dand district.

This year the Hajj was a success. The credit belongs to the Ministry of Hajj and Islamic Affairs, the Ministry of Interior, the Afghan Border Police and the government of Kandahar which co-operated fully and took care of the Hajj logistics and security.

“With much hard work and proper security we had one of the best co-ordinated Hajj seasons in years,” concluded border policeman Nisar Rhamahdi.
