ONCE upon a time there was a poor slave boy working in the garden of his rich master.
At lunchtime, just as the slave boy was being handed his meal – two loaves of bread and an apple – his master passed by.
The master saw the boy throw a loaf of bread to the horse. The horse gobbled up the bread but did not leave. So the slave boy threw the horse an apple which it also ate. But still the horse did not budge. So the slave boy threw his him last loaf of bread.
The boy’s master asked the young lad: “How much food do you get each day?”
“I get two loaves of bread and one apple,” the boy answered.
“Then, why did you prefer a horse to yourself and feed it all your lunch?” asked the boy’s master.
The boy replied: “There are no horses living round here. The poor creature must have travelled a long distance to reach here and it must be feeling very hungry. I felt ashamed to send it away, without serving it any food.”
The master said: “What will you eat today?”
The boy said: “I shall go without food for a day, which I don’t mind.”
The boy’s master said to himself: “People criticise you for spending too liberally, but this slave boy is far more generous than you.”
After thinking about this, the master set the slave boy free and gave him the garden as a gift.

Good job.
