The Big Bear Club won a basketball tournament that started on Jan. 7 in western Herat province, a sports official said on Saturday. A dozen teams participated in the event played at the Mirwais Sadiqui Gymnasium in Herat City, deputy director of sports, Ziaul Haq Zia, told Pajhwok Afghan News.

The Big Bear squad defeated their rivals Aria Police Headquarters 71-66 in the final. The Taban Club finished third position.
Basketball Federation Secretary Gen. Ghulam Ghaus Nikbeen said the competition was aimed at selecting players for the national basketball squad.
