Red Cross and Anti-Disaster Departments have announced their preparations for any unprecedented natural disasters during the winter season in Farah Province.
Hajji Ghulam Rasul, Head of Farah Red Crescent Department, in an exclusive interview with radio Sada-e-Azadi, said the department has taken special preparations for the people or families who may face natural disaster in winter season. Regarding the preparations of the Department, Hajji Ghulam Rasul said: "We have enough foodstuffs to help 200 families in winter season timely.
Also, we have prepared non-foodstuffs like blankets, lamps, tarps, tents and winter cloths to over 500 families. We have taken complete preparations for winter season." He further added that, they have registered over 1400 other families to help this winter in that province. Farah is a vulnerable province and faces different disasters in the different seasons out of which Juwan an
d Qala-e-Qader are most exposed districts to danger of sand storm, Andara district is exposed to flood and Purchamand and Gullestan districts are exposed to cold. Abdul Karim Shafaq, Acting Chief of Farah Anti-Disaster Department, in this regard said: "Preparation for any unprecedented natural disaster has been taken in different procedures.
The Department has prepared seasonal plans to the locations. There are different natural disasters like earthquake, floods, and storms and so on.
According to the officials in the Red Cross Department, the department has donated foodstuffs and non-foodstuffs to over 3000 helpless people in Farah Province during the first 3 quarters of the current year.
Meantime, Farah Refugee and Repatriation Department has also donated winter packs to over 600 displaced and repatriated families in that province.
According to the officials of Farah Refugee and Repatriation Department, 1500 winters sets or packs are due to be distributed to helpless people in Farah Province.
