Minister of Foreign Affairs Meets with UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan


Minister of Foreign Affairs Salahuddin Rabbani met this afternoon with the United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Afghanistan, Mr. Tadamichi Yamamoto in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

While expressing his pleasure for the meeting with foreign minister, Mr. Yamamoto praised the Afghan government approach to strengthen good relations with its neighbors, political and economic progresses, as well as the government strive to complete major economic projects.
Afterwards, Mr. Rabbani spoke about the activities and achievements of the Sixth Heart of Asia-Istanbul Process Ministerial Conference in Amritsar, India, the security situation, priorities, recent achievements of the Afghan Government and the government’s commitment to strengthen the peace process.
In the meeting, both sides also discussed and exchanged views on different issues, including the projected outcomes of NATO Ministerial Meeting in Brussels which will be convened very soon, UN Security Council discussion on Afghanistan in December, the need for strengthening UNAMA’s efforts in the new year 2017 within the framework of regional cooperation decided in the Heart of Asia Conference, and support of the Afghan peace process.
