Cricket grounds to be built in Helmand, Zabul


The Afghanistan Cricket Board signed Memorandums of Understanding with the Ministry of Counter-narcotics to build two cricket grounds in southern provinces of Helmand and Zabul.

Salamat Azimi Minister of Counter-Narcotics says they will support the construction of cricket stadium in Helmand Province with a total cost of 35 million Afghanis.

Based on the agreements signed between the two sides, a similar cricket stadium will also be built in Zabul Province with the support of the ministry bearing a total cost of 34 million Afghanis.

Minister of counter narcotics stressed,” We are working on some more projects like these ones for other provinces which will create vocation for young generation”. “From other side it will encourage youth to sports and prevent them from drugs addiction.” She added.

Shukrullah Atif Mashal, the chairman of ACB, said that work on building the grounds will begin next month.

He said that such projects would encourage youths toward sports and promote cricket.

“Afghanistan Cricket Board will support the Ministry of Counter-Narcotics in their efforts for the elimination of opium cultivation, production, and smuggling”. He added.
