President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani on Friday told Taliban and other militant outfits they could not achieve their goals through suicide attacks and bombings.
While inquiring after those injured in an overnight suicide bombing, the president said: “Our armed opponents shouldn’t think they would defeat us with such attacks.”
A German citizen was killed and 20 others -- mostly Afghans -- were wounded last evening when a teenage bomber blew himself up inside the Istiqlal High School in the heart of Kabul.
The explosion occurred in the auditorium of the school during a theatre performance at around 5:30pm. The injured were evacuated to different hospitals in Kabul, with four of them said to be in critical condition.
Ghani pledged all-out measures to steer the country out of the current wave of terrorism and enforce durable security at all costs, his office said.
Nasir Sarmast, the founder of the Afghan Institute of Music, and some photographers of private television channels are said to be among the injured.
