Minister Nasir Ahmad Durrani, the Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan met today in his office with the Country Director of World Bank for Afghanistan, Mr. Bob Saum and his delegation.
The World Bank delegation included Mr. Robert J. Saum, World Bank Country Director, Mr. Richard Spencer Hogg, the Program Leader, Susanne Holste, Task Team Leader and Susan Wong, Consultant.
The meeting was held at the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development, where the two sides discussed over effective utilization of facilities, design and implementation of a new program [Citizen’s Charter] under the auspices of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD).
Also in the meeting, Minister Durrani spoke in detail about his Ministry’s future plans which include technical capacity building, together with transparency and accountability in the implementation of all development projects, which will address the identified needs of the rural population.
“The support of World Bank (WB) is crucial to bring successful poverty alleviation and tangible changes in the living standards of Afghan rural communities” Minister Durrani insisted.
Besides pledging support from the plans outlined by the MRRD Minister, Mr. Saum once again reassured the MRRD Minister of the Bank’s long-term commitment to the MRRD.
