Minister of Finance discusses priorities with the World Bank Country Director


world-bank-and-mofH.E. Eklil Hakimi, the Minister of Finance met at his office with Mr. Bob Sum, the World Bank Country Director on 23 February 2016.

In the meeting a range of issues discussed including prioritisation of projects, budget execution, revenue collection, National Printing Companies, IMF mission and Country Partnership Framework.
The Minister of Finance informed the World Bank director about his meeting with some ministers of the cabinet (22 Feb, 2016) during which budget execution and projects implementation were discussed. Additionally, H.E. the Minister told the World Bank director about the Afghan Government preparation for the Brussels conference which will be held later this year.
The Minister of Finance leads a delegation ( Ministry of Finance and Central Bank) to meet the IMF mission team in Istanbul, Turkey, to discuss the economic reform agenda. Afghanistan authorities negotiated a 9-month Staff Monitored Program (SMP) with the IMF in early 2015. The first review of the SMP was completed in late October that assessed benchmarks for the end of June. The purpose of this meeting is to complete the second and final review of the program and start engagement on a medium-term macroeconomic reform.
