Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) officials on Monday signed a contract with a construction company to build a cricket ground in Laghman province.
According to ACB officials, the cricket ground will be built on six hectares of land in the province and will take eight months to complete.
Talking at the signing ceremony in Kabul, ACB director Nasimullah Danish, said: "Today is Laghman's turn to get a standard cricket ground. We will build cricket grounds all over the country in the near future."
Meanwhile, head of the building company, Mohammad Shafiq said: "We have interest in sports and we will sincerely work on the project. We will hand over a standard cricket ground to the ACB."
ACB officials said cricket is improving in Afghanistan and that they will do everything possible to provide people with the opportunity to have standard playing fields in all provinces.
