Deputy Foreign Minister of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan Dr. Nasir Ahmad Andisha had introductory meeting with the newly-appointed chief of UNICEF in Afghanistan Mrs. Adel Khudr this afternoon.
While welcoming Mrs. Khudr, the Deputy Foreign Minister expressed his concern over the increase violence in Afghanistan especially targeting civilian, children and women by the terrorists in the country, and called cooperation of UNICEF in health, nutrition, education & training, protection of children, youth and women important and valuable. He expressed hope that in the presence of Mrs. Khudr who enjoys much experience this field, this entity will further its cooperation with Afghan people.
Subsequently, Newly-appointed chief of UNICEF in Afghanistan Mrs. Adele Khudr said that work and service to the people of Afghanistan is one of her important desire, and talked regarding the importance of UNICEF scope of work in Afghanistan especially juvenile rights and said that good news is that the relevant organs of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan work over the finalization of the law against forced labor of children. As a member of the convention of juvenile rights, she expressed hope that Afghanistan will recognize its obligations in this regard and will finalize the mentioned law and the parliament will also pass it.
At the end, the Deputy Foreign Minister assured UNICEF of this Ministry’s cooperation and accepted her credential as UNICEF Afghanistan Country Representative of the mentioned office.
