Work on gravelling the main road in Paron, the capital of eastern Nuristan province, was launched on Tuesday, an official said.
The gravelling of the 10-kilometre road will cost 99 million afghanis, to be provided by the Ministry of Public Works.
Mohammad Zahir Bahand, the governor’s spokesman, told Pajhwok Afghan News the project would be completed in six months.
Twenty more projects were expected to be launched in the province in the near future by the Ministry of Public Works, he said.
Nuristan is a mountainous terrain and its inhabitants often complain of dilapidated roads, specifically during snowfall and rains.
