The Ministry of Energy and Water pledged to execute various development projects in central Maidan Wardak province, an official said on Wednesday.
The projects included eight schemes as well as construction and clearance of a power dam in Chak district.
The governor’s spokesman, Attaullah Khogyani, told Pajhwok Afghan News the energy and water minister pledged with local officials in a meeting in provincial energy and water department. A number of public representatives and Governor Abdul Majid Khogyani also attended the meeting.
According to Khogyani, the minister assured to facilitate transportation facilities and construct a building for energy and water department.
Speaking on the occasion, Khogyani said there was need for rehabilitation of Chack power dam and construction of eight water canals. He said the environment was also favourable to construct a dam on Behsud River.
Mohammad Saddiq, director energy and water department, said seven megawatts electricity was being supplied to the province, with three megawatts generated by Chak power dam and the rest being imported from Kabul.
