An important Al-Qaeda leader has been killed in an air raid in eastern Afghanistan, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) claimed on Sunday.
Abul Bara Al-Kuwaiti, the militant commander, was killed in the Lal Mandi area of Nazyan district in Nangerhar province late on Saturday, the spy service said.
A statement from the agency said the airstrike targetted the residence of Abdul Samad Khanjari, an Al-Qaeda member. NDS added Al-Kuwaiti had close links with the terror network’s chief.
Following the raid, security personnel recovered two Kalashnikov assault rifles, a machinegun, a laptop and certain sensitive documents from the house.
