Implementation of Public Utility Projects in Nangarhar



With a cost of more than AFN 149 million and 79 thousand funded by the National Solidarity Programme of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/NSP) 81 uplift projects were completed today in Behsod, Kama and Sarkhroad districts of Nangarhar province.

These development projects include the construction and gravelling of about 25-km rural roads, road side streams 1281-m in length, retaining wall 7942 meters in length, protection wall 3091 meters in length, an irrigation canal 1630 meters in length, three social centers, pathways 16631 meters in length, excavation of 139 safe drinking water wells along with installation of hand pumps, construction of water distributors and farming water reservoirs.Approximately, 22,809 families in various communities have gained access to basic human needs upon completion of these projects.Since its inception in Nangarhar province, the NSP has been able to execute 4629 development projects in different sectors including transport, water and sanitation, irrigation, power, livelihoods, education, etc while the work of another 543 is currently in progress.
