Minister Wais Ahmad Barmak-Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development paid visit from Ab-e-Barik village of Argo district, Badakhshan province.
The aim of this official trip was to lay the foundation stone of 170 shelters for those who were affected by land-slide on 2 May 2014 in Argo district of Badakhshan province.While accompanied by Governor of Badakhshan and provincial leadership board Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development once again visited the land-slide-hit area and laid the foundation stone for construction of 170 shelters.There in Argu, MRRD’s Minister met with victims. During his meeting he said to the residents that the shelters will be built in upcoming two months.It is to be noted that Minister Wais Ahmad Barmak, Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development has already visited the affected area pursuant to the guidance of H.E. President Hamid Karzai. Emergency Services Providers including Government Institutions, Non-Governmental Institutions, International Organizations and even ordinary Afghans have provided support from the victims. The plans for the resettlement of victims were prepared already but financial resources were sought.Fortunately, the foundation stone for construction of above mentioned shelters was laid by the financial support of India worth of nearly USD one million.The contract for the construction of these shelters was already signed by H.E. Wais Ahmad Barmak, Minister of Rural Rehabilitation and Development and Vice-Chairman of National Disaster Committee with Concern Worldwide Organization.The shelters will be constructed in 300 acres area. Each shelter includes two rooms, one corridor, kitchen, toilet, drinking water and other social services.
