President Ashraf Ghani Ahmadzai said on Monday that reforms based on principles would make citizens owners of the country.
Ahmadzai expressed the view at a meeting with community leaders and lawmakers from northern Balk province at the Presidential Palace.
A statement from his office said Ahmadzai assured the delegation that ensuring peace in the northern parts of the country was a top priority of the government.
Investment in major projects could be attracted only with the enforcement of peace, the president said, adding the country was blessed with vast water and mineral resources.
If properly utilised, the resources would help Afghanistan become a prosperous nation, he noted, highlighting the importance of women’s participation in building the nation.
Balkh elders assured the president of their support for reforms. They urged the president to serve the entire nation in accordance with his campaign promises.
