At least 14 insurgents, including two dreaded Taliban commanders, were killed and eight more wounded in ongoing offensive in northern Kunduz province, an official said on Monday.
Police Chief Brig. Gen. Abdul Saboor Nasrati said the insurgents suffered casualties as a result of clearing operations launched in Imam Sahib and Char Dara districts.
He told Pajhwok Afghan News 10 insurgents, including their commander Mullah Sherzai were killed in Dewana Qeshlaq locality of Imam Saheb and four more were wounded.
He added four other insurgents along with the group’s leader Maulvi Quraishi were killed in Chahardara district.
According to Nasrati the localities were cleared of insurgents’ presence and security forces had set up their check posts.
