Recently, the Afghanistan Rural Enterprise Development Program of the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD/AREDP) handed over toolkits to 117 Enterprise Groups in the provinces of Balkh, Parwan, Herat and Nangarhar.
Prior to distributing of toolkits, AREDP organized a training workshop for 190 members of Product/Enterprise Groups; 100 men and 90 women. During this training the attendees were learnt a number of issues such as poultry, dairy production, processing and handicrafts.
The total value of the support package amounted to approximately a million and 500 thousand Afs. This assistance will provide and enhance opportunities for sustainable employment in rural communities.
Since its inception in 2010, AREDP has created 1660 Enterprise Groups in Parwan, Bamyan, Balkh, Herat and Nangarhar provinces. This way, thousands of residents have started viable businesses in rural Afghanistan.
