Security forces have detained four would-be suicide bombers in southeastern Paktia and southern Kandahar provinces, the Ministry of Interior (MoI) said on Monday.
A three-member group of bombers, planning to stage a high- profile attack in Paktia, was encircled in Waza Zadran district on the basis of an intelligence report, the MoI said.
A statement from the said a huge amount of explosives, three suicide vests, a hand grenade and other kinds of weapons were recovered from the detainees.
Similarly, security forces nabbed a bomber in Kandahar City, the statement said, adding the would-be attacker had confessed to getting military training across the Durand Line.
He was allegedly sent to carry out attacks in Kandahar City. Elsewhere in the province, police seized an explosives-rigged motorbike in Zherai district.
