Group planning suicide attacks busted

Kandahar-01A 10-member militant group planning suicide attacks has been busted in southern Kandahar province, the National Directorate of Security (NDS) said on Thursday.

A statement from the intelligence agency said the militants with links to spy networks of neighbouring countries were planning large-scale attacks in Kandahar.
Five suicide vests, four Kalashnikovs, a pistol, 26 kilograms of explosives, two bombs and 25 remotely-controlled landmines were seized from the detainees, the statement added.

Police had foiled a possible act of sabotage in the province, the NDS claimed, saying the detainees were being interrogated.
