Known as Commander Aziz, he has inflicted fear in the ranks of the insurgents, defeating their operations in the region several times. “I have participated in defusing more than 2000 IEDs in Khost and Uruzgan provinces and conducted more than 400 operations clearing the enemies since 2008,” he told Sada-e Azadi. Born in a religious and influential family in Urgon City of Paktika, safety and security of locals are Commander Aziz’s priorities in fighting against the insurgents. “I

t is my moral and religious duty to protect my people and my country from the enemies of peace,” he added.

On the last day of Ramadan last year, Commander Aziz discovered that a car was packed with explosives ready to explode in the middle of a market in Urgon City. The Commander and his police unit managed to move people away from the vehicle, defused the bombs, and arrested the culprits. He

said saving hundreds of innocent lives is the best feeling he will ever have with him.
