Several welfare projects worth four million Afghanis have been completed in Sharan City, the capital of southeastern Paktika province, an official said Thursday.
Stability in Key Areas (SIKA) with the support of Rural Reconstruction and Development (RRD) completed the projects which included culverts, play grounds and irrigation channels.
Governor Aminullah Shariq while inaugurating cricket stadium said that youngsters would have better facilities with the construction of the stadium. The stadium was constructed at a cost of 1.3 million afghanis in four months, he added.
The widely popular cricket sport could not be developed in Afghanistan as compared to other countries, he said, adding that Afghan youth had shown talent and excelled in cricket in short span of time.
Najib Jahed, director of RRD, said construction of culverts and irrigation channels had been completed in Imran Khail and Chahardi areas. The projects had been completed with the cost of 2.7 million Afghanis, the director added.
